The Journey

This itinerary offers the traveler rustic Africa at its very best, taking in one of the regions finest safari destinations and combining it with the Indian Ocean’s hottest upcoming destination, Northern Mozambique. This trip commences with a four-night safari in the remote South Luangwa National Park, where walking safaris are the order of the days as well as your conventional game drives. The trip culminates with a week on one of Mozambique’s Quirimbas Islands, where one has the opportunity to relax in a truly un spoilt spot and take in some excellent water sports activities as well as some fascinating cultural tours.

Day 1 – 5 – Nkwali Camp, South Luangwa

Itinerary
On arrival in Lusaka, take a short connecting flight to Mfuwe, the gateway to the South Luangwa National Park. Arrival transfer to Robin Pope’s Nkwali Camp, your safari base for the next four-nights. Spend your days exploring this beautiful, game rich region. You will have the opportunity to track game on foot as well as your conventional day and night drives.

Day 5 – 6 – The Fairlawns, Johannesburg

Itinerary
This afternoon, transfer back to Lusaka by air from Mfuwe in order to take your direct flight to Johannesburg. Arrival transfer to the beautiful Fairlawns Hotel and Spa for some pampering after your long safari.

Day 6 – 13 – Matemo Island, Quirimbas Archipelago

Itinerary
This morning, transfer to Johannesburg Airport in order to take your direct flight to Pemba on Northern Mozambique’s Indian Ocean Coast. On arrival, take a short connecting flight to Matemo Island, your picture postcard island retreat for the next seven-nights. Relax here in idyllic bliss, taking in any number of water sports and local tours as and when they take your fancy.

Itinerary
This afternoon, transfer back to Pemba by air in order to take your direct flight back to Johannesburg. From Johannesburg, continue with your onward connection.
