The Phantom Forest Eco Reserve is privately owned Garden Route lodge, within 137 hectares of nature reserve on the Knysna River. The unique bio-diversity of afromontane forest, Cape Coastal fynbos and estuarine wetland is inhabited by countless bird species, bushpig, bushbuck, grysbok, the rare blue duiker and a variety of smaller game.

Phantom Forest uses only sustainable building materials, from ragged thatch rising into the forest canopy to wood shingle, from meandering boardwalks to a natural freshwater pool, and a harmonious balance with the surroundings has been meticulously preserved in this enchanted wonderland.

The surroundings at Phantom Forest really do transport you into an almost magical world. Secretive Bushbuck, shy tiny Duiker, and the flashy Knysna Lourie add to the enchantment of the forest, and an incredible amount of effort has been put into making your accommodation feel like an original part of the forest. Evocative 'tree suites' and sensual forest bathrooms allow you to gaze at the African night sky while listening to the music of Nature.
