A tired homestead has been transformed with great care to maintain its original style - retaining as many of its old doors, windows and ceilings as possible - and atmosphere, but with a clean-cut modern twist. The rugged natural environment and tamed terraces now provide a splendid setting for Mardouw's stylish modern architecture, African artefacts and superb contemporary art collection. In hospitality though, the welcome here remains as genuine as when this was a family home
