General Information
Hippo Hollow is nestled amongst lush indigenous gardens on the banks of the Sabie River in Hazyview, and is only 10 minutes from the Kruger National Park. The 91 thatched chalets and rooms overlook the gardens, two swimming pools and the Sabie River.
The restaurant at Hippo Hollow has a variety of mouth-watering dishes and a fine selection of South African wines from the cellar. Take your meals while watching grazing Hippos on the lawn, against the backdrop of a glorious sunset.
A variety of activities await you, from open-vehicle safaris in the Kruger National Park to helicopter adventures swooping over gorges and waterfalls. However you choose to spend your time, Hippo Hollow will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Within only half an hour drive you can witness the spectacular panorama route which includes Pilgrim's Rest, Graskop, Bourkesluck Potholes, God's Window and the Blyde River as well as the many fantastic waterfalls of the surrounding area.

Hippo Hollow Country Estate is situated outside Hazyview on the Sabi River between the Drakensberg mountains to the west and the low-lying bushveld to the east.
Rooms
The Lodge has an "Out of Africa " feel about it, and leaves you feeling totally relaxed and refreshed. There are 63 units in total. 18 Family chalets on the river and 19 twin bedded chalets situated in a sub tropical garden. Hippo Hollow's chalets are semi-self catering, equipped to cater for a braai (a traditional South African barbeque). Hippo Hollow also has 26 en-suite hotel rooms.
Attractions
Hippo Hollow has two large central swimming pools - a welcome respite on those hot Lowveld days. For arts and crafts lovers there is a well-stocked curio shop with a selection of local art. Activities at Hippo Hollow include open air drives to Kruger Park, river rafting, fishing, hiking, golfing (two Golf Courses with one kilometer of the Estate) and scenic helicopter flips over the Blyde River Canyon.
Dining
There is a full service restaurant and bar in a spectacular setting overlooking the Sabi River, offering country cuisine and a fine wine selection. The sight of Kingfishers and other beautiful water birds as well as hippos grazing on the lawns often enhance dinners.
