Drakensberg Mountains

A blend of nothern tropical and southern subtropical zones this river crossed land of contrasts moves from uplands of indegenous forest incised by steep-scarped valleys to spacious open grasslands dotted with wiry acacia trees and governed by the Big 5. The area is famed for its successful protection of the now large white rhino population.

A liquid melding of lagoons, swamps, waterways and ocean interspersed with dune forests and long beaches define the KZN North Coast. Undersea coral reefs teem with colourful life and are one of the worlds top ten dive sites, and the St Lucia Wetlands are a World Heritage Site and home to an incredible animal, bird and floral diversity. 

Durban is a blending pot of culture and fun. Colonial European, Indian and Zulu cultures spurn rickshaw rides, spice markets, zulu crafts and more near the Golden Mile beachfront while dolphins wow the crowds with acrobatic displays at Ushaka Marine World. Durban is fun for the whole family with plenty to keep everyone entertained.

The aptly named Battlefields is an area of great historical significance, and quite possibly it was in this very area that the future path of South Africa was was written in blood. Three great nations came to blows here in the Anglo-Boer, Anglo-Zulu and Zulu-Boer wars and the tragically beautiful landscapes are steeped in history, legend and memorabilia.
