General Information

Bordering the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park - a World Heritage Site - and situated in the lush Maputaland region in northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Phinda Private Game Reserve comprises 22 000 hectares (54 500 acres) of prime conservation land.

Seven distinct habitats shelter an abundance of wildlife including Africa's Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, black and white rhino, buffalo) and over 380 bird species, while the marine diversity off the nearby coast of Sodwana is said to rival the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

Between exciting game-drives, bird watch from the pool deck, or simply relax in the Lodge's comfortable sitting area with its great vaulted ceiling and enormous fireplace.

Guests at Phinda Mountain Lodge can look forward to exciting game-drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles led by experienced rangers and Zulu trackers, as well as thrilling optional activities on the water, in the air and on the beach.

Location

Phinda Mountain Lodge is located in Northern KwaZulu Natal in the Phinda Game Reserve, between the Indian Ocean and the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park.

Rooms

Phinda Mountain Lodge has 20 private air-conditioned suites each with en-suite bathroom comprising of a bath, shower, separate w.c and hand basins. All suites have a sitting area, personal bar and private viewing deck and plunge pools.

Activities

World renowned for the safari activities on offer, Phinda Mountain Lodge offers game drive, bush walks, canoeing, White Rhino tracking and riverboat cruises as part of the accommodation package. Scuba diving or game fishing in Sodwana Bay, horse riding along the beach or through False Bay Nature Reserve, a breathtaking flight over Maputaland are all extra safari activities that can be arranged at Phinda at an additional charge.

Dining

Delicious Pan-African cuisine is enjoyed in the dramatic boma (outdoor dining area) illuminated by dozens of candles and lanterns, or served to you in a spectacular clearing in the bush under a star-studded sky. Phinda is renowned for wonderful bush banqueting in surprising settings.
