General Information

Phinda Rock Lodge has been designed with a unique African architecture set into a cliff-face overlooking the beautiful Leopard Rock and is an absolute delight. Its intimate suites are seemingly suspended over the deep valley below, providing breathtaking views.

Phinda Private Game Reserve has seven distinct habitats that shelter an abundance of wildlife including Africa's Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, black and white rhino, buffalo) and over 380 bird species, while the marine diversity off the nearby coast of Sodwana is said to rival the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

You can look forward to exciting game-drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles led by experienced rangers and Zulu trackers, as well as thrilling optional activities on the water, in the air and on the beach.

Phinda Rock Lodge is a unique lodge comprises six stone and adobe suites with en suite bathrooms, private sitting areas, decks and plunge pools offering unrivalled views of the valley below. The dining and sitting areas have imposing fireplaces and open out onto a shaded deck with sweeping views of the Lebombo Mountains and bushveld below and beyond.

Location

Phinda Rock Lodge is located in the Northern KwaZulu Natal safari area, in Phinda Game Reserve and between the Indian Ocean and the World Heritage Greater St Lucia Wetland Park.

Phinda Rock Lodge - Consists of six exceptional suites suspended from the side of a rocky cliff. Each suite has a spacious bedroom with bath, shower, twin hand basins and separate w.c. All suites have their own private sitting area, personal bar, plunge pool and deck offering unrivalled views of spectacular Leopard Rock and the valley.

Activities

Safari activities at Phinda are plentiful. Enjoy game-drives, interpretive bush walks, canoeing on the Mzinene River, White Rhino tracking, or watch the sunrise or sunset whilst enjoying a Mzinene Riverboat Cruise - all at no extra cost. Scuba diving or game fishing in Sodwana Bay, horse riding along the beach or through False Bay Nature Reserve, a breathtaking flight over Maputaland are all safari activities that can be arranged at Phinda at an additional charge.

Dining

Delicious Pan-African cuisine is enjoyed in the dramatic boma (outdoor dining area) illuminated by dozens of candles and lanterns, or served to you in a spectacular clearing in the bush under a star-studded sky. Phinda is renowned for wonderful bush banqueting in surprising settings.
