General Information

Kosi Forest Lodge is the only private lodge in the Kosi Bay Nature Reserve - an unspoilt wilderness that is part of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, now internationally recognised as a World Heritage Site.

The lodge itself is set in a beautiful sand forest on the banks of the Kosi Lake. The thatched bush suites are carefully positioned to provide guests with privacy and an intimacy with the peaceful surroundings. The romantic en-suite bathrooms are open-air, giving guests a truly unique experience. Guests can relax at the pool with its unsurpassed views of Lake Shengeza.

The 16-bed lodge offers comfortable accommodation, fine cuisine and caters for a host of estuarine, beach and wilderness activities. Guests can explore this unique ecosystem by guided canoe, boat trips on the lakes, raffia forest walks or day excursions to nearby coastal beaches. Kosi Forest Lodge is rated as one of South Africa's top eco-tourist destinations.

Kosi's staff are largely drawn from the local community which makes them extremely knowledgeable about the area and they are always on hand to provide you with ideas and local knowledge.

Location

Situated in the Kosi Bay Nature Reserve which is incorporated into the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, Kwazulu-Natal.

Rooms

Kosi Forest Lodge has eight thatch and canvas rooms on raised wooden decks, unique open-air, reed enclosed bathrooms with the bath and shower sunk into white forest sand. All beds have mosquito nets.

Activities

Activities are based around the beach, lakes and oceans surrounding Kosi. Guided canoeing on Kosi lakes, boat cruises, beach visits, bird watching, day trips to Kosi Bay mouth (including snorkeling), guided walks in the Raffia forests, horse riding (by prior arrangement) and turtle tracking walks (15 Nov - 15 Jan) are just some of the fun you will have at Kosi Forest Lodge.

Dining

Meals are a special occasion at Kosi Forest Lodge. The Boma dinner under the stars lit by candle and kerosene lamp is a wonderful and memorable experience.
