The magical Valley of Waves has its own wave pool and stretch of beachfront. Entry to the valley is via the ‘treacherous’ Bridge of Thunder, but the perilous journey is well worth it when you arrive on the soft white beach sands and dip into the warm ‘ocean’ waters. Waterslides surround the area and you can test your mettle at the Temple of Courage – a near vertical slide which is sure to have you screaming as you plummet to the waiting pool below.

In the surrounding gardens – or botanical jungle as it should be called – you will find Waterworld, a huge man-made lake which has all sorts of fun activities from skiing to paddling. A stroll further into the jungle will find you in an exotic wonderland of twisting walkways, rope bridges and brightly coloured birds.

Sun City has two world class golf courses -the Gary Player Golf course which needs no introduction, was designed by Gary Player and is the venue for the Nedbank Golf Challenge, an annual golf tournament with total prize money of US $4 385 000; and the Lost City Golf Course which is Arizona desert-themed course that comes complete with real crocodiles in the 13^th hole water hazard. This spectacular par-72 course is a cart course, complete with a state-of-the-art clubhouse, and is a short stroll from The Palace of the Lost City. 

Those wanting to venture forth on a safari can go on an elephant back ride which can be booked in Sun City. The Sun City resort is also next door to the Pilanesberg National Park. This is a malaria free Big Five game reserve and is the perfect place to go for a miniature safari experience.
