General Information

Ant's Nest is a very special bush home situated on adjoining private game reserves in the magnificent, malaria free Waterberg (3 hours north west of Johannesburg and a couple of hours south of the Limpopo River).

The aim at Ant's Nest is to provide a uniquely flexible safari experience offering guests a wide choice of activities to keep everyone entertained: from the youngest to the oldest, the fittest to those most in need of a rest (their guide to guest ratio is 1 to 3). Specializing as a home from home experience, the lodge can be booked on an exclusive basis.

Ant's Nest offers luxurious exclusivity and caters for at most twelve guests at any one time. All the rooms are en-suite with top end amenities and the lodge has a well sized swimming pool, which is heated to the perfect temperature all year round.

The Reserve offers diverse topography and vegetation ranging from wide-open plains to beautiful mountainous areas, enabling us to naturally sustain the widest variety of game possible. They boast over 40 species of game including the rare sable antelope, nyala, oryx, eland, giraffe, buffalo, white rhino and well over 300 species of resident and migrant birds. In addition to game drives, the reserves offer a safe and secluded environment to allow guests of all ages to enjoy guided bush walks, horse rides, cycling and game drives.

Location

Ant's Nest is located in the malaria free Waterberg Safari Area, a three hour drive North of Johannesburg.

Rooms

The luxurious en-suite rooms accommodate a maximum of only twelve guests. There is a 15 metre pool in the garden, ideal for those needing some exercise or great for kids. It is heated all year round. Extensive lawns and beds of indigenous plants surround the pool and home and there is a wonderful, thatched covered chill out spot with vast sofa beds to relax on during the heat of the day.

Activities

Activities here include horse-riding, guided bush walks, game drives and tours of the local ancient bushmen paintings. Ant's Nest will give your children a life-changing experience. Special activities are laid on for children and teenagers who enjoy getting involved in the running of a game reserve. Children of all ages can join their parents on all activities or can alternatively be taken out separately.

Dining

Ants Nest prides itself on sumptuous home cooking, dining outside whenever possible under shady trees. Morning game activities often end with a bush lunch, whilst at night you can sit around open fires under the stars. Excellent South African estate wines are served. All dietary requirements are catered for.
