General Information

Clearwater is a haven for those seeking a quality wildlife experience, a getaway and the most romantic setting for an intimate wedding.

Anne Cointeau-Huchon is the owner and director of Clearwater Lodges. Originally from France, Anne invested in Welgevonden Private Game Reserve in the picturesque Waterberg area, and the idea of Clearwater Lodges was born. Madam Cointreau was named one of the world's 40 leading women entrepreneurs for 2001 by the STAR group. After 9 years of conducting business in South Africa, she was nominated as one of the five finalists for South Africa's businesswomen of 2002.

The construction, interior decorating and final touches of Kudu and Tshetshepi Lodges were finalized during the course of 1998. Towards the end of 1998 the first guests were welcomed to Clearwater.This was the beginning of a success story-three years later Clearwater Lodges was accepted as a member of the prestigious Relais and Chateaux group.

Clearwater offers two unique and distinctive lodges - Kudu and Tshetshepi. Each lodge accommodates a maximum of ten guests is in 5 doubles rooms. Kudu Lodge is set overlooking a vast open area and waterhole with endless mountain views on the horizon. The abundance of game in front of the lodge provides continual hours of game viewing from the comfort of your room's deck. Tshetshepi Lodge is hidden against the mountainside amongst lush indigenous tress, each chalet enjoying the tranquil trickle of a mountain stream.

Location

Welgevonden Game Reserve is situated in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, just 3 hours drive from Johannesburg.

Rooms

Kudu Lodge and Tshetshepi Lodge each accommodates a maximum of ten guests is in 5 doubles rooms - including three single units and a family unit (with two bedrooms). All units have a separate bathroom (2 in the case of the family unit), including an outdoor shower and personal deck outside their bedroom. Each lodge retains a unique ambience, due to their beautiful settings, and the inimitable hospitality and character shared by the staff.

Activities

Game drives are undertaken in comfortable landrovers, generally in the early morning and late afternoon. Walking safaris, under the personal guidance of one of the game rangers, as well as visits to the nearby bushman paintings can also be arranged. The program is however totally flexible, and is set to meet with your personal requirements.

Dining

Both Kudu lodge and Tshetshepi lodge pride themselves on offering wholesome, ethnic, gourmet food and fine wines which are served on the deck, in the dining room or in the rustic boma of the respective lodges. The entertaining areas (lounge, bar, dining room) of both lodges are surrounded by a wooden deck, where you can relax for endless moments, or refresh in the pool.
