Situated a mere 2 hours drive from Johannesburg, the Waterberg Mountains are home to Clifftop Lodge in a glorious malaria-free Big Five area.

Clifftop Lodge is an exquisite five-star bushveld hideaway, a unique resort, where service is understood and luxury is elegantly understated. The setting is breathtaking and provides a beautiful, African backdrop for a world of easygoing elegance.

The Lodge is perched on a cliff overlooking the Sterkstroom River, one of the watercourses that give the Waterberg its name. Eight luxury suites each with their own private deck and plunge pool afford you the opportunity to watch game in the river valley below.

Clifftop Lodge was designed by one of South Africa's leading architects to be eco-friendly, both in its aesthetics and in its impact, with the saligna decks of the main complex complemented by an infinity edge pool which leads the eye to the exquisite panorama below. The result is a truly breathtaking lodge that offers the seclusion of the African bush, yet with the small luxuries that make for a relaxing and invigorating game experience.

The Waterberg Safari area has excellent game viewing and as it is an emerging destination you will not encounter many other vehicles on your safari, so you really do get a real African bush experience.

Clifftop Exclusive Safari Hideaway is situated a mere two and a half hours drive from Johannesburg in the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve,in the malaria free Waterberg Mountains.

Awash with the sounds of the Sterkstroom River flowing below, each of the 8 luxury suites is en suite, with both indoor and outdoor showers. The rooms each have their own private deck and plunge pool affording you the opportunity to watch game in the river valley and the opposing cliff face while basking in the privacy of your secluded suites.

Food and Drinks

Enjoy sundowners from an extensive bar, or cocktails on the pool deck while watching the magnificent sunset. The cuisine at Clifftop is a superb fusion of African and Western flavours. The wine cellar's walls are adorned with premium wines for the connoisseur. Enjoy an intimate dinner, cheese and wine, or a small function, in the privacy of the cellar, whilst being confronted with the panorama below.

Game Drives

Game viewing in open vehicles affords you the opportunity of viewing fauna and flora, whilst traversing the undulating hills, following river courses and open savannah plains. The reserve is well stocked with lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, rhino, elephant, zebra, giraffe and plenty of other mammals, birds and trees.
