General Information

The Long Beach is a truly special place to stay in Cape Town, offering a rare and rewarding alternative to your conventional holiday experience. A Last Word Residence, The Long Beach is situated in the picturesque lobster-fishing village of Kommetjie on the pristine Long Beach itself. You literally walk out of your door onto the beach.

Each of The Long Beach's six luxury suites was designed with comfort in mind - to make the most discerning guest feel relaxed and thoroughly pampered. Decorated in Anna Carst interiors - hand-painted natural fabrics with tranquil blues and salmon pinks against a warm ivory background, the suites echo the colours of the hotels exquisite coastal setting.

Each suite is adorned with colonial-style lime washed wooden shutters, which, when opened depict spectacular views of the crystal blue Atlantic Beach and the pure white sands of Kommetjie's famous, Long Beach. Guests can step off the pool deck outside their elegant suite straight onto the unspoilt dunes. Breakfast is served overlooking the pool deck and the beach, with lunch and dinner available on request in the elegant dining room.

Location

The Long Beach is situated in the picturesque crayfish (lobster) fishing village of Kommetjie, a short thirty-minute drive from Cape Town.

Rooms

The Long Beach's six luxury suites were designed with comfort in mind. Each room faces the sea, as do the bathrooms. A wooden pool deck is situated right outside the suites and with the beach a mere step away. Facilities include a private safe, satellite television, air-conditioning, heated towel rails and underfloor heating.

Activities

Kommetjie's main attraction is itswonderful wide beach. Long Beach extends over 8 kilometers (5 miles) to Noordhoek, ideally suited for long beach walks. Surfers find good conditions here and dense kelp forests in the shallow water are good grounds for snorkelers and divers. Kommetjie boasts the highest lighthouse on the South African coast. The Slangkop Lighthouse is 100 feet high, entirely made from steel and became operational in 1919.
