General Information

The luxurious Steenberg Hotel is situated on the Cape's oldest farm, a mere twenty-minute drive from the bustling heart of Cape Town. The hotel nestles in the tranquil Constantia Valley, against the slopes of the Steenberg Mountains, offering sweeping views over the False Bay.

Its buildings, dating back to 1682 and have been lovingly restored to blend the legendary elegance and traditions of the 17th century with the most refined luxuries and conveniences of our modern age turning this boutique hotel into a haven of serenity and gracious hospitality.

Steenberg Hotel has twenty one en-suite rooms and three Heritage Suites - the Manor House, Jonkershuis and the Barn - which have all been declared a National Monument and are decorated traditionally with antiques and all overlook the vineyards or manicured gardens.

A championship 18-hole golf course designed by Peter Matkovich surrounds the hotel. Guests are given special rates and can enjoy a round of golf on a course that was designed to make full use of the natural features and hazards. Steenberg golf course is rated as one of the top three courses to visit in South Africa. The course features four distinct areas: Wetlands, Parklands, The Cape Flats and Fynbos.

Award-winning chef, Garth Almazan, will host you at the Catharina's Restaurant in which guests are invited to relax, dine in style and enjoy sophisticated South African cuisine. The professional staff in the luxurious and spacious spa will offer guests the perfect treatment to suit their particular needs. Tailored health menus are available.

The estate boasts a state of the art modern winery, producing some of the country's finest award winning wines. Steenberg has been named Leading Wine Estate in South Africa at the World Travel Awards in 2007.

The Spa at Steenberg is operated by the experienced Gingko Spa and Wellness Group and is a welcome addition to the many and varied facilities enjoyed by guests at the hotel. The Golf Course

Rated as one of the top three courses in South Africa this 18 hole championship golf course meanders through the Steenberg vineyards, pine forests and gentle waterways. With five different tees, the course can be enjoyed by all, from championship to junior level. There are also a number of practice areas, including a driving range, chipping area with sand traps and a large putting green.

Inventive and talented Executive Chef Garth Almazan's cuisine epitomizes sophisticated contemporary South African cuisine.
