Every year from June to December the whales arrive in the bays along the Whale Route to calve. Low seaside cliffs provide excellent viewpoints and allow you to get within feet of a whale without ever leaving dry land. Specialized Whale Boat Safaris leave regulary from the harbour in Hermanus which is a vibrant seaside town with some excellent restaurants.
