General information

Consisting of just four large tented suites, Selous Private Camp is the smallest luxury safari camp in Tanzania, dedicated to providing an unparalleled level of service, hospitality and luxury for a small, select number of guests.

With its' own swimming pool, dining area, vehicles, boats, guides, managers and gourmet bush cuisine, Selous Private Camp offers the very best safari experience to the privileged few that stay there.

The four opulent tented suites are appointed along the banks of Lake Nzerakera, with definitive views of the wildlife and the dramatic Selous sunsets. Designed to maximise on ventilation, whilst blending seamlessly into the game-rich wilderness that surrounds it, the hexagonal shape catches the lake breeze, leaving the tent well-ventilated whilst still maintaining maximum privacy.

Daily activities include morning and evening game drives, bush walks and game viewing by boat - an opportunity for guests to obtain close-up photographs and views of the many hippo wallowing in the water and the large crocodiles lurking on the banks. The wealth of the Selous reserve's vivid bird life is best seen from the boat.

Location

The camp is set amongst trees on the banks of Lake Nzarekera in the heart of the Selous Game Reserve in Southern Tanzania.

Rooms

Selous Private Camp consists of 4 vast luxury tents raised onto wooden platforms with palm canopies & views. The tents are designed with widest side to front, to maximize views and breeze. Each tent has its own en suite bathrooms with double brass basins, cupboard space, dressing area and adjoining shower area open to the stars. There are two verandas - one to front off the bedroom, second off rear of tent.

Activities

Open four-wheeled drive vehicles take you out on early morning and evening game drives into the surrounding bush. On the Rufiji River the camp offers game viewing by boat. A walking safari is also possible from Selous Private Camp which encourages you to develop and utilise all of your senses, whilst you become at one with mother nature.

Wildlife

The Selous’ wildlife is spectacular and some of its mammal and reptile populations are the largest in Africa, namely buffaloes, elephants, hippos, wild dogs and crocodiles. Other wildlife includes the wildebeest, zebra, eland, the greater kudu, sable antelopes, giraffe, baboon and vervet monkeys. There is a large population of predators including lions, leopards, cheetah and the spotted hyena, and about 440 species of birds in the Selous, of both resident and migratory birds
