General information

Kapinga Camp is situated in the north-west corner of the vast Busanga Plains of Kafue National Park, one of the largest national parks in Africa, while the Busanga Plains is one of Zambia's most significant wetland resources, and one of the few areas in the world that remain unspoilt by human development.

Kapinga Camp is designed to be in harmony with the environment; natural products have been used as much as possible in its construction. Interiors are spacious and with only four luxury safari tents accommodating a maximum of eight guests, one can be assured of exceptional personal attention.

Tents and the main area are all shaded by a canopy of majestic trees and on raised wooden platforms to enhance the panoramic view across the plains. Lively colours and stripes characterise the main area, comprising a lounge, dining area, camp fire and small pool under a shady tree.

Guests can take part in game drives and walking safaris in and around the Plains, while night drives offer the added excitement of observing the nocturnal wonders of the area.

Location

Situated on the Busanga Plains in the northern part of the 22 500 square km Kafue National Park.

Rooms

Kapinga is a very intimate camp that blends perfectly with its natural surrounds. There are only four large traditional meru-style tents ensuring a great deal of personal attention. The tents are very spacious with natural colours and outside deck. Each tent has mosquito nets, safe, fan, electric lamps and an en-suite bathroom that includes indoor and outdoor showers and a flushing toilet.

WIldlife

Every dry season large herds of puku, lechwe and wildebeest begin to move onto the plains to graze, followed by a variety of other plains game ranging from zebra and buffalo to roan and oribi. There are resident prides of lion, and cheetah that frequently hunt on the wide-open plains. Wild dog are occasionally sighted. Hippo come out of their deep-water channels to graze. The birdlife is one of the outstanding attractions for many guests.
