General information

Located deep inside the Lower Zambezi National Park on the banks of the Zambezi River, Chiawa Camp has a reputation for professional and personal service, a friendly atmosphere and excellent game viewing.

Chiawa Camp remains the foremost safari camp in the Lower Zambezi and has been voted as one of Africa’s top ten safari camps. Resting peacefully on the riverbank, in a grove of mahogany and acacia trees, Chiawa is constructed essentially of natural materials, and is designed to ensure its idyllic setting can be fully appreciated. All nine of the luxury safari tents are under thatch, have en-suite facilities with hot & cold running water, twin or double beds, insect screens and solar powered lighting.
 
Daily activities led by highly trained guides include morning and evening game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, walking safaris, canoe trips and motorboat excursions. Chiawa Camp employs enough guides and maintains a sufficient infrastructure that ensures maximum efficiency and flexibility. This means that you will enjoy levels of choice and convenience not found elsewhere. Location

Chiawa Camp is located in the heart of the Zambezi National Park on the Zambezi River Banks, an area famed for it's game viewing.

Rooms

There are five classic safari tents, one honeymoon tent and three superior tents at Chiawa Camp, accommodating a maximum of 16 guests on an individual basis or a maximum of 18 guests if the camp is booked out in its entirety for a group. The tents all have excellent views and are accessed by paths running behind them to maximize privacy.

Activities

Daily activities led by highly trained guides include morning and evening game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, walking safaris, canoe trips and motorboat excursions. Guests can set their own pace and select activities according to their preferences. Chiawa Camp is best experienced when a customised itinerary is made up of any combination of these activities.

Dining

Chiawa Camp is renowned for its excellent cuisine, often described as an Afro/Euro fusion, in which even the most demanding palates are catered for. Depending on the day’s activities, breakfasts, brunches and lunches are hot & cold buffet usually served al-fresco, sometimes in the bush, and even on a boat in the middle of the Zambezi! Dinners are usually 4 courses, table d’hote.
