General information
Kapani is an exclusive, private camp situated on the banks of one of the many ox-bow lagoons in the South Luangwa. It accommodates just twenty guests and is open throughout the year.
Each of the eight standard suites has its own lounge with bar fridge and the beds have overhead fans inside their walk-in mosquito nets. The two Lagoon Houses are even more spacious with private views and elegant furniture.
The camp operates off mains electricity and offers most modern facilities. A thatched building in the centre of the camp houses the lounge and library. It is pleasantly cool in the hot weather and warm and cosy in the cooler months with an open fire. The bar and dining area is set on a deck overlooking the Kapani Lagoon.
According to the season, dining is al fresco with dinner taken on the terrace, on the spacious deck, by the swimming pool or in the lounge. Private dinners can also be arranged for guests seeking a little more seclusion.
There is a small gift shop offering books and local crafts as well as a secluded swimming pool at the far end of camp. Kapani means – place of mopane trees.

Kapani Lodge is situated on a large lagoon beside the Luangwa River in Zambia's South Luangwa National Park.
Walking Safaris
Norman Carr always maintained that to view the bush from a vehicle was to observe, but to get out on foot was to become instantly a part of your surroundings. Anyone experiencing a walking safari will concur that to stand and see the flick of a lion's tail as he disappears behind a bush 100 yards away, incensed and mystified by your presence, is infinitely more exciting than to sit in the safety of a jeep within inches of the same creature.
Rooms
Kapani has eight standard rooms all with very comfortable seating area within the large bedroom, as well as en suite bathrooms, overhead fans and mosquito nets. Two lagoon houses are much larger than the standard rooms and are perfect for honeymooners or families.
Dining
Days in the bush usually start early so a light breakfast is served at dawn before your morning safari. A lavish brunch will be awaiting your return to camp and afternoon tea is taken before the evening safari. After your night safari you will have time to freshen up before a beautiful dinner will be served. All house wines, beers and soft drinks are served on a complimentary basis.
