General Information

In a private concession in the Okavango Delta in Botswana, Abu Camp is set in pristine African wilderness. The highlight of Abu Camp is the resident elephant herd. Interactions include feeding, bathing and swimming with these giants.

6 spacious and luxury custom designed tents are raised on teak decking with dramatic views over the delta and its roaming inhabitants. African elegance is evident in the décor which makes use of antiques, mahogany and African artefacts. Porcelain or copper bathtubs and outdoor showers complete the setting reminiscent of early safari travel.

Location

Abu Camp, is located on a huge private reserve in the Western region of the Okavango Delta.

Rooms

Accommodation is in luxurious custom-designed tents, raised on teak decking and overlooking a lagoon. The tents, described as Bedouin influence meets the African bush, have fully zipped entrances, and roll down canvas on the windows. All the tents are beautifully and individually furnished with mahogany four-poster beds or antique sleigh beds. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom complete with copper or porcelain baths, shower and flush toilet. Every tent has a different style but all reflect the very high standard that defines Abu Camp.

Elephant Safaris

The essence of the camp, of course, is the experience of being part of an elephant herd in their natural habitat. Guests are ‘introduced’ to the elephants shortly after their arrival and are soon high in the saddle for morning and afternoon rides. From the lofty heights of the elephant’s back, the wetland wilderness that is the Okavango takes on a unique perspective. The elephants move at a natural stately pace without disturbing other game, affording their passengers wonderful close-ups of game in the area. Abu Camp also offers morning and afternoon game drives, night drives and nature walks to view the abundance of fauna and flora in the area.
