Grootbos is situated on a private nature reserve on the Whale Route, located about 50 km east of Hermanus and less than a 2-hour drive from Cape Town.
Garden Lodge and Forest Lodge both have large, private suites surrounded by nature and complete with incredible views of the ocean and forest. Natural textures and colours create a tranquil ambiance. Bathrooms are spacious and finely appointed with the most luxurious of amenities. Winding pathways between your suite and the main lodge meander through the ancient Milkwood Forest.
Activities include, guided walks and 4×4 drives through the reserve,1-2 hour guided walks through the extensive Milkwood Forest,1-2 hour guided horse rides through the reserve, guided trip along the nearby coast to view the whales (June to December), opportunities to explore sandy beaches, swim in sheltered bays and picnic on the beach, stargazing – telescopes are great for watching stars, planets and the moon and bird-watching; experience a great variety of bird species on the reserve.
