Rocktail is set within the lush coastal forest, the beach a brisk 20-minute walk away and Maputaland Marine Reserve just offshore. Ocean Safaris, snorkelling and diving reveal underwater wonders, while walks and excursions to Lake Sibaya and the local community explore the land. In summer, guests join guides on a Turtle Drive for a chance to see leatherback or loggerhead turtles nesting, or tiny hatchlings scrambling down to the sea – both once-in-a-lifetime spectacles.
Rocktail has 14 airy en-suite guest tents, of which four are family units – comprising a shared bathroom and two bedrooms – and one is a honeymoon suite.The main area includes a wrap-around veranda, large pool and children’s playroom.

Rocktail Beach Camp is located in the Maputaland Coastal Forest Reserve in northern Kwazulu-Natal midway between Kosi Bay to the north and Sodwana Bay to the south.
The lodge consists of 11 rustic ‘tree-house’ chalets. Each enjoys its own balcony and en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water and flushing toilets. There is also an invigorating outdoor shower hidden in the forest. The central area has a comfortable lounge, well-stocked pub and a refreshing pool. Guests can enjoy delicious home-cooked cuisine in the main dining room, by the pool or under the shade of a huge mahogany tree.
Rocktail Bay is renowned for its superb diving and snorkelling opportunities. The Maputaland Marine Reserve is situated just offshore from Rocktail and enables guests to encounter dolphins, whales and huge shoals of colourful fish. 11km south of the camp, guests can experience unrivalled snorkelling and scuba diving on the amazingly fertile coral reefs found just offshore from the camp’s own fully accredited dive centre.
